What Is The Ketogenic Diet?

Dr. Oz does an on stage demonstration describing how the Ketogenic diet works and how it helps you to lose weight.  Here are some helpful facts about the keto diet and how ketosis burns fat :

  • The Ketogenic Diet has actually been in existence for 90 years.  The trending diet isn’t the latest trend that was featured on Dr. Oz but a well researched diet that was designed in 1924 by Dr. Russell Wilder at the Mayo Clinic.
  • Charlie Abraham, who suffered from seizures since he was a toddler started The Charlie Foundation in 1994.  After trying the ketogenic diet, Charlie has been seizure free ever since.

What is Ketosis?

The Ketogenic diet is high in fat and protein, but low in carbohydrates. This combo changes the way in which your body uses energy.  Benefits of the Keto diet is when your body enters into ketosis.  Fat is converted into fatty acids and ketone bodies.   Glucose levels are lowered and improves your insulin resistance.

  • “Ketosis is a normal metabolic process, something your body does to keep working. When it doesn’t have enough carbohydrates from food for your cells to burn for energy, it burns fat instead. As part of this process, it makes ketones.”
